Ulama Council Malawi Condems Government For Voting Against Peace In Palestine

The Ulama Council Malawi has described as disheartening that the Malawi Government voted against peace in Palestine during this year’s United Nations General Assembly.

The council’s leaders, led by Grand Mufti Muhammad Uthuman, Ulama Council chairperson Sheikh Mussa Matola, and Secretary General Abbas Vinjenje, are currently addressing the media in Blantyre on the matter.

The leaders say the council is yet to know the interest of Malawi in supporting Israel’s occupation of Palestinian land, killing innocent people, of which 70 percent are women and children.

“The council and all peace loving Malawians are yet to establish the agenda of the ruling Malawi Congress Party by defaming the pride of the country well known as a ‘God-fearing nation through encouraging wars and fighting against peace,” said Sheikeh Vinjenje.

The council is urgently appealing to political leaders, human rights activists, faith group leaders, and citizens to unite and condemn Malawi’s stand.
