This decision comes as part of an initiative to ensure that these committees work in alignment with the government’s objectives rather than focusing solely on personal gain.
Speaking to party members and local leaders, Chimwendo Banda emphasized the need for development committees that are effective and accountable. He stated, “The government seeks development committees that will collaborate effectively with state initiatives rather than merely leveraging their positions to influence the distribution of resources.” This statement reflects ongoing concerns about the misuse of committee roles, which have reportedly been used to manipulate the allocation of aid and resources to favor select individuals.
