Malawi Tourism Council Partners with African Tourism Board to Boost Visibility of Tourism Products

The Malawi Tourism Council (MTC) has taken a significant step in promoting the country’s tourism sector by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the African Tourism Board (ATB). The MOU, aimed at enhancing the visibility of Malawi’s tourism products, was signed during a ceremony in Blantyre.

MTC Executive Director Memory Momba Kamthunzi expressed optimism about the partnership, noting that it will strengthen Malawi’s presence in the African tourism landscape through sustainable tourism initiatives. Kamthunzi emphasized that the collaboration would focus on joint marketing efforts, capacity-building programs, and networking with key stakeholders across the continent.

“This partnership will enable us to boost the visibility of Malawi’s rich tourism offerings and foster growth within the sector. By working with the African Tourism Board, we can create new opportunities that will benefit both the local tourism industry and the economy at large,” Kamthunzi said.

Ramy Waheed, the African Tourism Board’s Global Ambassador, highlighted the importance of the MOU in positioning Malawi as a leading travel destination. He noted that the agreement would not only attract more tourists to Malawi but also generate jobs and contribute to the nation’s economic development.

“This collaboration will showcase Malawi’s unique attractions and help position the country as a top destination for travelers. Through sustainable tourism, we aim to drive job creation and contribute to economic growth,” Waheed added.

The MOU is expected to pave the way for enhanced tourism initiatives and a brighter future for Malawi’s tourism sector.
