The parliamentary ad-hoc committee established to investigate the tragic plane crash that claimed the life of former Vice President Saulos Chilima and eight others has today officially commenced its investigations into the accident that shocked the nation on 10 June 2024.

The committee, which is being chaired by Walter Nyamilandu Manda, held its first official meeting today as members mapped out the direction and procedures of the inquiry.
As part of the investigation process, the committee is expected to visit Kamuzu International Airport this afternoon to gather crucial information surrounding the ill-fated military aircraft journey.

The inquiry is expected to focus on several critical areas, including flight procedures, communication systems, weather conditions, aircraft maintenance records, decision-making processes, and the circumstances that led to the fatal crash.
Among the officials attending the discussions is Lieutenant Colonel Amin Kalinga from the Malawi Defence Force, who is serving as part of the parliamentary secretariat assisting the committee during the investigations.
