Malawi Sun Hotel has launched a new initiative aimed at empowering young women to become leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs and ambassadors in Malawi’s hospitality and tourism industry.
The programme, unveiled in Blantyre on Saturday, seeks to inspire a new generation of women to take up influential roles in the tourism sector while helping to promote Malawi as a leading travel destination.Singini Shines as Wanderers Edge Ekhaya FC
Speaking to journalists during the launch, one of the hotel’s managers, Venia Awali-Bakali, said the initiative is designed to equip young women with the confidence, skills and exposure needed to make meaningful contributions to the country’s tourism industry.

She said the programme goes beyond creating employment opportunities, as it seeks to nurture future leaders capable of driving innovation and marketing Malawi’s tourism potential both locally and internationally.

She explained that the successful candidate will work closely with the Malawi Sun Hotel team to promote tourism experiences, engage communities, support initiatives that celebrate Malawi’s rich cultural heritage and collaborate with various stakeholders in the hospitality and tourism sector.
According to Awali-Bakali, the initiative reflects the hotel’s commitment to supporting national efforts to grow tourism while creating opportunities for women to actively participate in the industry’s development.

The programme is open to young women aged between 18 and 35 who have a genuine passion for hospitality and tourism and are eager to represent Malawi’s culture, attractions and people.
The initiative comes at a time when Malawi continues to intensify efforts to position tourism as one of the key drivers of economic development, with stakeholders encouraging greater participation of young people and women in the sector.
