The Auxiliary Bishop of the Lilongwe Archdiocese has urged Christians in the archdiocese to support priests in their daily lives so they can carry out their duties smoothly.

Bishop Vincent Mwakhawa made the call during the celebration of the Silver Jubilee of St. Patrick’s Parish in Area 18, Lilongwe.

He also commended the St. Patrick’s congregation for extending similar support to other parishes through development projects.

“Continue doing this. You must know you are doing God’s work by assisting others,” he said.

During the celebration, Fr. Kennedy Malemia, the parish superior, thanked Christians for their cooperation and hard work.

The chairman of the parish council committee also praised the congregation for its dedication and urged them to maintain the same spirit.

He appealed to fellow Christians to keep working hard in order to improve the lives of believers.

As part of the event, certificates were presented to Christians who contributed to the parish’s development. Among the recipients were Dr. Mary Shaba, Dr. Paul Kulememeka, and retired Brigadier General Sayenda, among others.

The celebration was attended by various guests from all walks of life, including Hon. Kaupa, MP and Minister of Defence, as well as councillors and other dignitaries.

St. Patrick’s Parish was established in 1976. It has two centers, Kauma and Gubo, with an estimated 5,000 Christians. The parish falls under Macula Deanery in the jurisdiction of the Lilongwe Archdiocese.Bishop Joseph Addoh Ansah declares: “The Lord will elevate those who fear him”

It is recognized as one of the parishes performing well spiritually, economically, and in uplifting the livelihoods of Christians both within the parish and beyond. One of the parishes that has benefited from St. Patrick’s support is Nathenje Parish, which received a maize mill that is still operational.

After the celebration, there was food, drinks, and traditional dances.
