A 28-year-old man has been arrested at Cape Town International Airport in South Africa after police discovered 150 live venomous scorpions concealed in his luggage.

According to authorities, officers acted on a tip-off regarding the suspected illegal transportation of protected wildlife. The suspect was identified and apprehended at the airport before a search of his luggage uncovered approximately 150 live venomous scorpions hidden between items of clothing.

Authorities have not yet established the value of the seized scorpions. The animals have been transferred to a secure facility where they are being cared for by wildlife specialists.
