Speaking to MBC Digital, Mittawa said the global football spectacle presents an opportunity for administrators, club owners, sponsors and football enthusiasts to study successful strategies being employed at the highest level of the sport.

He emphasized that football has evolved beyond competition on the pitch and now requires strong commercialization, administration and marketing structures to thrive.

“The World Cup is a learning platform for all of us. Beyond the matches, there are important lessons in football administration, marketing, commercialization and fan engagement that can help transform our local game,” said Mittawa.Germany Run Riot as Sweden Shine in Goal-Filled World Cup Action

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, being jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States, has attracted global attention for its organization, innovation and commercial success.

Mittawa noted that Malawi can benefit significantly by adopting some of the best practices being showcased during the tournament, particularly in areas of revenue generation, sponsorship attraction and professional football management.

Meanwhile, Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Fleetwood Haiya is among football leaders following the tournament closely and attended the opening matches of the World Cup.
