The interim President of the newly formed Peoples Development Party (PDP), Kondwani Nankhumwa has withdrawn his position as Leader of Opposition in parliament and all the court cases concerning the position.
Nankhumwa was speaking this on Thursday, May 02, 2024 at Golden Peacock in Blantyre during press briefing.
He quoted the Bible in the Book of Genesis (12: 1-3) where God blessed Abraham and made him father of the nation.
The Mulanje Central legislator added that this is not the official launch of the party, which will use an eagle as its official symbol because of the bird’s association with power, freedom and strength.
He said he has made the decision due to his association with the new party.
Nankhumwa, however, said the PDP will have seven political regions of South, Shire Valley, East, Centre, Lakeshore, North and Misuku.
