Business mogul and philanthropist Thomson Mpinganjira will on Sunday honour 16 football legends that were part of the Flames squads that won the East and Central Africa Senior Challenge Cup in 1978 and 1979 as well as those that qualified for the 1984 Africa Cup of Nations, finished third at 1987 All Africa Games and won the 1988 East and Central Africa Senior Challenge Cup at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe.
Mpinganjira, who is also president of Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, will honour the legends through his Ekhaya Farms Foods Limited.
He said he will honour the legends in appreciation for their contribution towards the Flames’ success and to encourage others to support them “and appreciate their contribution”.
Minister of Youth and Sports Uchizi Mkandawire will be the guest of honour.
JK Productions, the organisation that runs the operations of the legends, has thanked Mpinganjira for his gesture.
The organisation’s board chairperson Jim Kaluwa said: “We are very thankful to Dr. Mpinganjira for appreciating the legends’ cause.”
