On Tuesday, January 10, 2023, the Leader of Opposition in Parliament Dr. Kondwani Nankhumwa, MP, who is also Democratic Progressive Party Vice President responsible for the Southern Region delegated Councillor Gerald Lipikwe of Limbe Ward to hand over a donation of assorted items including face masks and 50kgs of Chlorine to Limbe and Makhetha Clinics following the outbreak of Cholera, which has hit most parts of the Blantyre. The Right Honourable Nankhumwa has made the donation following his tour of the two Cholera treatment facilities that he conducted last week. Leader of Opposition in Parliament Kondwani Nankhumwa has asked government to end the fuel scarcity problem “once and for all”. Nankhumwa who is also DPP vice president for the South made the remarks when he visited some fuel stations in Lilongwe. He said it was sad and disturbing to see people abandoning their product activities to queue for fuel at filling stations. “Government needs to address this. We cant continue on this trajectory. Leader of Opposition in Parliament Kondwani Nankhumwa has asked Minister of Agriculture Lobin Lowe to resign within seven days if he does not resolve the mess at Admarc and to give a plausible explanation on how his ministry handled the K30 billion mis-procurement of fertiliser scandal. In a letter dated October 17, Nankhumwa has questioned if Lowe consulted widely before dissolving the grain trader, further demanding a revelation of names of officials who negotiated the botched fertiliser procurement deal. Lowe has declined to comment on the demands saying he has not seen the letter.

Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Kondwani Nankhumwa claims the country is on autopilot as it is sailing through poor leadership. He says there is no hope that leadership will rise again. Nankhumwa has cited the allegation that some UK based company swindled the government K30 billion in a flopped Affordable Inputs Program fertilizer supply deal. He says this will likely affect the 2022/2023 farming season. Of course, earlier today the Ministry of Agriculture described the allegations and mere lies but confirmed making an advance commitment payment of about K750 million for a deal that never happened. Nankhumwa is currently addressing journalists in Blantyre.
