No Demos, Police Are Busy-DC

Lilongwe District Commissioner, Dr. Lawford Palani has postponed planned peaceful demonstrations tomorrow by a grouping under the banner Concerned Citizens; saying police officers will be busy with other duties and operations.

This is contained in a communication dated 22 November 2022 that Dr. Palani has sent to the group leaders.

Among others, the grouping demands Inspector General of Police, Merlyne Yolamu to effect arrests of some police officers they allege are involved in the mysterious death of a Malawian of Rwandan origin, Emmillie Halimana Noel.

But we have further gathered that the grouping plans to seek legal redress on the matter.

Noel reportedly died on 17th October 2022 but there is controversy as two post-mortem reports contradict each other with one attributing the death to a road accident while the other points to murder.
