People Think Police Lend Guns To Criminals

The growing insecurity across the country has revived allegations that the police lend out fire arms and uniforms to criminals.

This follows a spate of armed robberies that instill fear among the citizenry as many lives are being lost including valuable property.

While some believe there is a lapse in gun control measures, others accuse the armory department of the police of assisting the robbers.

Some robbers pose as the police, in full regalia, and mount illegal roadblocks at night and eventually attack unsuspecting motorists.

The Centre for Human Rights and Rehabilitation–CHRR is among groups accusing the police of conniving with criminals.

But the Malawi Police Service has dismissed claims that police officers lend out guns to criminals.
