Police Arrest Fuel Dobadoba

Police in Monkeybay have arrested two men for allegedly being found in possession of fuel without a certificate from MERA.

Public Relations Officer for Monkey-bay, Sergeant Alice Sichali said the two have been picked at Kankhande Filing Station during a sweeping exercise conducted to ensure that the public is observing rules and regulations set by MERA when buying the commodity.

During the exercise, the officers managed to confiscate 30 Jerrycans (655 litres) of petrol worth over K1 million.

The two suspects are identified as Solomon Yakobe of Chilimba Village and Benson Kapanda of Simon Village both from Traditional Authority Nankumba in Mangochi District.

The suspects will soon appear before court, to answer charges of possessing fuel without a MERA Certificate.
