Malawi’s national netball team, the Queens, have returned home following an impressive campaign at the Africa Netball Cup, where they secured a bronze medal and booked their place at the 2027 Netball World Cup in Sydney, Australia.
The Queens arrived in the country this morning and received a warm welcome from Second Vice President Enoch Chihana and Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture Alfred Gangata.
Speaking during the reception, Chihana said the nation was proud of the Queens’ performance and their achievement on the continental stage.
The bronze-medal finish represents another significant achievement for Malawi’s netball, while the qualification for the 2027 Netball World Cup gives the Queens another opportunity to compete against the world’s leading netball nations.
The team’s successful Africa Netball Cup campaign has also provided a boost to Malawi’s preparations for the global tournament, with attention now expected to turn towards building on the performance ahead of the World Cup in Sydney.
The Queens’ return has been met with appreciation from supporters, as Malawi celebrates both the continental bronze medal and the team’s qualification for the 2027 Netball World Cup.
