President Dr Lazarus Chakwera is presiding over a graduation ceremony for Grade 2 Senior Command and Staff Officers who have completed a course at the Malawi Defence Force Command and Staff College in Salima. The 20 officers have been acquiring literacy skills in strategic leadership management and high-level command for eleven months. The graduands are expected to receive post-graduate diplomas under the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) and Certificates in High-Level Command. Former President Joyce Banda is among the notable high-profile guests attending the function.

Malawi Defense Force Commander Vincent Nundwe says plans are under way to have strategic programs aimed at upgrading the newly Commander Staff College to start offering Masters degrees. Nundwe disclosed this on Saturday in Salima during the graduation of 20 Grade 2 Senior Command Officers and Staff Officers, who commenced their studies on 4th October last year, covering 46 weeks. Their studies, included civil military relations and national security governance, among others. MDF Soldier, Immigration Officer Arrested For Aiding Ethiopians To Enter In The Country Illegally

Police in the Northern Region have arrested a Malawi Defence Force soldier at Chilumba and an Immigration officer at Karonga for allegedly assisting Ethiopians to enter the country illegally. Northern Region Police spokesperson Maurice Chapola has identified the suspects as Brown Juma Banda from Chilumba Barracks and Daiton Msukwa from Karonga Immigration office. The cops have also nabbed a civilian, Kunje China, who hails from the lakeshore border district. The arrests have happened few days after President Lazarus Chakwera and Paramount Chief Kyungu of Karonga spoke against aiding foreign nationals to enter the country illegally. Malawi Defence Force (MDF) has announced that it will conduct a live firing training exercise on Chikala Hills in Machinga from tomorrow to Saturday, April 30. The defence institution has, therefore, advised communities in surrounding areas to take note of the heavy presence of soldiers. Caught smuggling liquor using MDF Tatas Malawi Revenue Authority has caught Chita One Investment yet again smuggling 1000 boxes of South African Branded liquor worthy about MK50 million (fifty million Malawi Kwacha) into the country. This time around he was using an MDF (Malawi Defence Forces Tata). This is the third time in a few months that MRA officials have managed to apprehend Chita One Investment whose Director is Davie Banda. Unfortunately, it appears either he is too allergic to repenting or he is above the law such that authorities deliberately pay a blind eye to convict him. Fearless human rights activist and freedom fighter Bon ‘Winiko’ Kalindo has hit back at self-styled social media influencer Stanley Onjezani Kenani on British Interference on Malawi’s security.
