Prophet Shepard Bushiri alleges that some recognisable security personnel from South Africa are making attempts to kidnap him.
Bushiri’s spokesperson, Ephraim Nyondo, said through various tip-offs from well-wishers, he has on record that foreign agents are trailing him.
Prophet Bushiri also alleges to know where the suspected kidnappers lodge and their local collaborators.
”The Prophet suffered immensely at the machinations of these people in South Africa. The South African justice system failed to apprehend these people even after numerous criminal cases were opened against them and also reported them to various state security bodies. This, if you recall, is the reason the Prophet left South Africa to seek justice in his home country and he is highly respectful of the court processes he is going through.
“We must underscore, here, that he will not allow to be bullied and intimidated by the assailants in his home country the way they did in South Africa,” the statement reads in part.
National police publicist, Peter Kalaya, confirmed receiving the complaint from Bushiri a few weeks ago and said they are investigating the matter.
The prophet is accused of money laundering and fraud along with his wife and two others.
The BBC reports say crime investigators claim the case involves 102 million South African Rands ($6.6 million).
He appeared at Pretoria’s Magistrates Court on 21 October 2020 to hear the charges and was granted bail on 4 November in the same year before leaving the Rainbow nation for Malawi.
