Umodzi Party Optimistic About Resolving Tonse Alliance Tensions

By Noel Mkwaila, Blantyre

The Umodzi Party (UP) is optimistic that the current situation in the Tonse Alliance can be corrected if President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera addresses the tensions within the alliance.

UP President Thomas Wezzie Kaumba told the press in Blantyre that Chakwera can resolve the issue by calling for a dialogue among the remaining alliance partners and having an honest conversation about the state of affairs.

Kaumba made these remarks just a day after UTM, a partner in the alliance, exited.

He expressed concern over UTM’s departure, considering the efforts they made prior to the 2020 Court-ordered Fresh Presidential Elections.
