The Parliament’s Public Appointments Committee has officially appointed Chimwemwe Chithope-Mwale as the Acting Director of the Malawi Legal Aid Bureau. His new role takes effect from September 1, 2024.
Prior to this appointment, Chithope-Mwale served as the Deputy Director of the Bureau, bringing valuable experience and continuity to his new position. He steps into the role previously held by Justice Trouble Kalua, who has transitioned to serve as a High Court Judge.
Chithope-Mwale’s appointment marks a significant shift in leadership at the Legal Aid Bureau, an institution critical to providing legal assistance to the underserved and vulnerable populations across Malawi. As Acting Director, Chithope-Mwale will be responsible for overseeing the Bureau’s operations and ensuring the continued delivery of essential legal services.
The Public Appointments Committee’s decision underscores confidence in Chithope-Mwale’s ability to lead the Bureau effectively and build upon the work of his predecessor.
