A vibrant and spiritually uplifting atmosphere filled the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024, as the acclaimed acapella gospel group, The Harps, launched their highly anticipated album, Kwa Ife Ayi. The event, which attracted people from all walks of life, saw the BICC Auditorium packed to capacity, with excitement and divine energy spreading throughout the venue.
The album launch coincided with The Harps’ tenth anniversary, adding an extra layer of significance to the occasion. Known for their soul-stirring and harmoniously layered vocals, The Harps have garnered a large and loyal following over the years, and this celebration brought together a diverse audience of gospel music lovers.
Among the distinguished attendees was Dr. Dalitso Kabambe, former Reserve Bank Governor and UTM Party presidential hopeful, who shared his admiration for the choir’s mission. “The Harps are preaching to many through their music. Their message resonates with people of all backgrounds,” said Dr. Kabambe, acknowledging the group’s positive influence on Malawian society.
Owen Nkoka, Chairperson of The Harps, addressed the audience, expressing the group’s gratitude for the support they’ve received over the past decade. “We will continue to preach to the masses through our music, and we are incredibly thankful for the love and encouragement we have received on this journey,” Nkoka remarked.
The celebration was further enriched by performances from other renowned gospel choirs, including The Redeemed Family from Zimbabwe and Sovereign Chords, both of whom delivered outstanding renditions that enhanced the spiritual ambiance of the evening.
The launch of Kwa Ife Ayi marks a significant milestone in The Harps’ musical journey, and the BICC became a gathering point for a shared experience of music and faith. As they continue their musical ministry, The Harps’ legacy looks set to strengthen and inspire even more lives in the years ahead.
