Lilongwe City Mayor Esther Sagawa has commended the Malawi Defense Force for ensuring the country’s peace and stability over the years.

Sagawa made the remarks during the Malawi Defence Force parade in Lilongwe on Friday.

She said that the parade helps foster a stronger relationship between civilians and the army, as they interact with each other during the event.

Sagawa said that people need to understand the defense force’s role which is to protect civilians.

Commanding Officer for two Malawi Riffles Kamuzu Barracks Lieutenant Richard Maulana said that the parade, which was restarted in 2023, serves as a reminder that the Malawi Defense Force is always available to ensure the country’s safety.
