Sunganimoyo takes a break from Face book use

Social commentator Isaiah Emmanuel Sunganimoyo, says the current state of social media particularly Face book, has become a breeding ground for misinformation propaganda and hatred saying it is disheartening to see how divisive and destructive Face book has become.

Sunganimoyo said he is deeply concerned about the impact of social media in the society and the country observing that it is clear it is tearing apart and perpetuating a cycle of negativity and falsehoods and as a result, he is refusing to be part.

Writing in a statement, Sunganimoyo who for long has been speaking in support of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, the Chewa Heritage Foundation (CHEFO), Chewas and MCP, has advised his followers to follow him on WhatsApp, SMS, calls and e-mail for those who wish to reach out to him.

He has assured his followers that he is committed to building a better future for the country and its people saying he believe that the starting point is disconnecting from toxic influences like Face book where he interacts with people every day.

The social commentator said he is planning to spending more of his time engaging with people in person, visiting their homes and villages to listen to their grievances and concerns and working towards positive change believing that real connections and conversations are the key to building a stronger and more united Malawi.

“Thank you for understanding my decision, I look forward to staying connected with you all through other means of communications,” reads Sunganimoyo’s writing on the wall.

A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has praised Sunganimoyo for his courage commenting on political, religious and social issues Malawi is sailing through.

Kamphangala said had it been that President Chakwera opened his ears to what Sunganimoyo has been advising him, he would not have lost trust from the very same people that voted for him massively in the June, 2020 court sanctioned Presidential Elections.

He recalled that in one of his video clips, Sunganimoyo informed President Chakwera that people of the central region of Malawi are also in hunger crisis despite the region being a food basket feeding other regions of the country.

The MCP diehard appealed to President Chakwera that while he is supporting people of the southern and eastern regions hard hit by hunger crises, he should not forget his brothers and sisters in the central region that they need his support as well.

However, the sentiments by Sunganimoyo did not go well with some Ministers and senior party officials and was declared an enemy of the MCP for speaking the truth beside his assurance that he is a diehard member of the MCP and a staunch supporter of President Chakwera.
