Her Excellency Madame Gertrude Mutharika is set to host a grand gathering of more than 800 women from various churches and mosques in Mangochi on Saturday, February 8. The event, which will take place at Page House, is themed “Thanksgiving”, reflecting a spirit of gratitude and unity among women from different religious backgrounds.
The function is scheduled to commence at 1:00 PM and will feature a variety of activities aimed at fostering spiritual reflection, appreciation, and community building. Among the highlights of the day will be thanksgiving prayers, where participants will come together to express their gratitude for life’s blessings. The event will also include performances by choirs, adding a musical element to the gathering, as well as theatrical plays that are expected to carry messages of faith, hope, and unity.
The decision to bring together women from both Christian and Muslim faiths underscores the importance of religious harmony and coexistence in Malawi. Mangochi, being a district with a significant population of both Muslims and Christians, provides a fitting venue for such an interfaith gathering, reinforcing the shared values of gratitude and community support.
Madame Mutharika, a former First Lady of Malawi, has been actively involved in various social and charitable initiatives, and this gathering is yet another demonstration of her commitment to empowering and uniting women. By organizing this thanksgiving event, she not only aims to encourage spiritual growth but also to create a platform for women to network, share experiences, and inspire one another.
With the participation of over 800 women, the event is expected to be one of the largest interfaith women’s gatherings in Mangochi this year. The diverse lineup of activities promises a vibrant, uplifting, and spiritually enriching experience for all attendees.
As the countdown to February 8 continues, anticipation is building among the invited women, who are looking forward to a day of reflection, celebration, and gratitude in the serene surroundings of Page House.
