Helping Bright Futures Shine Again
The Islamic Zakat Fund (IZF) has announced a welcome return of its bursary program, offering a lifeline to financially struggling students pursuing higher education in Malawi.
After a four-year break due to financial challenges, IZF is back to sponsoring students who have secured places in health, education, and engineering courses at public universities, the College of Medicine, and Catholic University.

IZF bursary officer Khalid Chilima confirmed that both new and continuing students can apply from July until August 16. He emphasized that the program is initially targeting a few institutions before expanding further.
“This initiative is specifically designed to support underprivileged students across the country,” said Chilima. “IZF remains committed to empowering the nation through education.”
With the rising cost of education, the return of IZF’s bursary program is a timely boost for many aspiring professionals hoping to shape Malawi’s future.
