Nathenje Catholic Parish has handed over a newly constructed girls’ hostel to its development and fundraising committees, aiming to boost the parish’s financial status and support girl child education.
Father Thomas Kasiya, the parish’s Father Superior, urged the committees to work together to improve the parish’s structures, emphasizing the need for proper prayer houses. “The parish needs proper church structures as prayer houses because the current ones are old and small,” he said.
Kasiya encouraged the committees to care for the hostel, source funds, and work transparently. “You must also find other ways of sourcing funds for the parish… think outside the box,” he advised.

The hostel will accommodate 60 girls from Mwatibu School and nearby private institutions, aiming to reduce early pregnancies, teenage marriages, and school dropouts.
The fundraising committee chairperson pledged to care for the hostel and manage funds transparently, depositing collections into a dedicated account.
The hostel was built with funding from Childhood Ministries and community contributions, including materials and labor.
