In a powerful sermon, Vice President Jane Ansah emphasized the need for moral revival and unity in Malawi, speaking at the 16th anniversary celebrations of the Pentecostal International Church of Christ (PICC) in Lilongwe. Addressing the congregation, she praised Pastor Esau Banda’s faithfulness and commitment, highlighting his achievement of writing 125 books.
Ansah stressed that true faith is demonstrated through integrity, honesty, and a commitment to doing good, citing Jeremiah 2:8 and Matthew 16:26. She lamented the lack of morals in Malawi, questioning the prevalence of corruption despite widespread Christianity.
The Vice President emphasized the importance of unity and shared vision in building a nation, urging the congregation to avoid jealousy, envy, gossip, and false rumors. She quoted President Arthur Peter Mutharika’s description of her as a woman of integrity, with a strong fear of God, and highlighted her role as Vice President as an opportunity to contribute to the solution.
Ansah criticized churches and pastors who accept money from politicians without questioning its source, saying this compromises the church’s values. She pointed to the American dollar’s motto, “In God we trust”, as an example of a nation founded on prayer and faith.
Concluding her speech, Ansah sang a hymn and received congratulations as a powerful evangelist. She expressed gratitude for a gift and highlighted her foundation’s work with vulnerable groups, emphasizing the importance of empowering people rather than simply giving them handouts.
The service closed with Pastor Esau Banda leading the congregation in Psalm 23:6, and the congregation thanked Ansah for her inspiring sermon and Pastor Banda for his leadership.
