Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has urged Malawians to focus on President Peter Mutharika’s efforts to revive the economy and help stranded citizens instead of engaging in political prophecy debates.
Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has called on Malawians to shift their attention from prophecy-driven political debates and instead focus on what he describes as the commendable efforts by President Peter Mutharika and his Cabinet to stabilize the country’s economy and address national challenges.Bushiri Pledges Support for Football Development in Ntcheu
Bushiri made the remarks in response to ongoing discussions on social media following political prophecies made by fellow prophet Austin Liabunya, who recently claimed that God had revealed Bushiri would one day become Malawi’s President.
Reacting to the growing speculation, Bushiri said the current national priority should not be political prophecies but supporting initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Malawians.
He praised President Mutharika’s efforts to engage development partners, the private sector, civil society organizations, and citizens in rebuilding the economy. Bushiri also highlighted government initiatives aimed at finding lasting solutions for thousands of Malawians stranded in South Africa, saying such issues deserve greater public attention.Bushiri Football Scouting Project Identifies Over 40 Talented Players in Salima

The preacher further appealed to fellow religious leaders to exercise caution when delivering political prophecies, warning that such messages can easily influence public opinion and create unnecessary divisions if handled irresponsibly.
“As a prophet myself, I have always approached political prophecies with great caution. I do so with a deep understanding that, beyond the spiritual dimension, such messages carry the potential to influence public emotions, shape perceptions, and, if not handled responsibly, create unnecessary divisions among citizens,” Bushiri said.
He encouraged religious leaders to use their influence to promote national unity, healing, peace, and development rather than fueling political tensions through controversial prophecies.
Bushiri’s comments come as debate continues online over Liabunya’s prophecy, with supporters and critics expressing differing views on the role of prophetic messages in Malawi’s political landscape.Shepherd Bushiri Ignites Youth Football Dreams as Nselema United Triumphs in Machinga Bonanza
The latest remarks are expected to further fuel public discussion on the intersection of religion and politics, while also drawing attention to calls for greater focus on the country’s economic recovery and national development agenda.
