
Malawi Earns US$184.4 Million from Tobacco Sales in 11 Weeks

Malawi has earned US$184.4 million (approximately K319 billion) from tobacco sales during the first 11 weeks of the 2026 tobacco marketing season.
According to a report from the Tobacco Commission, a total of 89.4 million kilograms of tobacco have been sold at an average price of US$2.06 per kilogram.
The Commission said that during the same period last year, Malawi had earned US$319 million (approximately K553 billion) in foreign exchange from tobacco sales.
The figures indicate that both the volume of tobacco sold and the foreign exchange earnings recorded in 2026 are lower compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
