The postmortem results of Pakistani-born businessman Asif Khan, who died under mysterious circumstances in Mudi, Blantyre, will be presented in court as key evidence in a high-profile murder case that has attracted widespread public attention.

Malawi Police have confirmed that the autopsy findings will form part of the prosecution’s evidence as investigations into Khan’s death continue.

According to Chinthere, Asari was arrested for allegedly participating in the murder of Khan, who is believed to have been killed on 6 July 2026.

The suspect has since been committed to the Blantyre High Court, where he is expected to answer a charge of murder.

The development comes days after authorities exhumed Khan’s body on 19 July to conduct a postmortem examination aimed at establishing the exact cause of death.

The decision to exhume the body followed growing allegations that the Pakistani businessman may have been murdered by fellow businessmen after a business deal allegedly turned sour. Police believe the postmortem report will play a significant role in helping the court determine the circumstances surrounding Khan’s death.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the findings of the autopsy, saying the results will first be presented before the court as part of the prosecution’s evidence.

The case has generated significant public interest, with many closely following the investigation after reports suggested the businessman may have been the victim of foul play rather than having died from natural causes.

Asari remains in custody at Chichiri Prison awaiting his appearance before the High Court.
