Major Tonse Alliance partner, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) says it is yet to get an official communication from the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) over its decision to pull out of the electoral partnership.

MCP publicity secretary, Ezekiel Ching’oma said that on Friday that the party is only hearing the matter through the media.

However, AFORD president Enock Chihana has reiterated that the party is not obliged to inform fellow alliance partners before making a decision on the matter, considering that there is no formal agreement among the alliance members.

Meanwhile political commentator, Humphreys Mvula has urged AFORD party to raise its concerns formally to the membership before announcing its withdrawal from the coalition publicly .
