On Monday morning, 25 November 2024, the High Court in Lilongwe convened to hear oral submissions from both the state and the defense in a case where Lester Maganga is accused of murdering Allan Witika.
Maganga, the accused, was present in court as the proceedings began.
The case, which has garnered public attention, was previously adjourned in October 2024. During the last session, the court granted the state 14 days to file its submissions and allowed the defense the same period to respond.
The oral submissions marked a critical stage in the case as both sides presented their arguments. The state outlined its evidence, accusing Maganga of being responsible for Witika’s death, while the defense challenged the allegations, urging the court to dismiss the charges.
The presiding judge indicated that a ruling on the submissions would be delivered in due course, leaving both parties and the public awaiting the next steps in the high-profile case
