Former Qatari Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani has warned that escalating tensions involving Iran could trigger a wider conflict across the Middle East, with devastating consequences for the region.
In remarks shared publicly, the former premier cautioned that a full-scale confrontation could leave Middle Eastern nations facing severe human, economic, and political costs, while global powers might ultimately benefit from the situation.
He suggested that countries such as the United States could see increased profits through expanded arms sales if a large-scale war were to erupt, while regional states would carry the burden of destruction and instability.
Hamad bin Jassim also pointed to the role of ongoing regional tensions involving Israel, referencing the policies and actions of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He further mentioned the broader geopolitical dynamics connected to U.S. leadership, including former President Donald Trump and his administration’s approach toward Iran.
According to the former Qatari leader, a prolonged conflict could drain regional resources, disrupt economies, and potentially draw multiple countries into a dangerous cycle of escalation that may reshape the Middle East for years to come.
He therefore urged governments across the region to exercise caution and avoid actions that could trigger a broader confrontation.
The warning comes amid rising tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States, with diplomats and political analysts increasingly expressing concern that the situation could develop into a wider regional conflict if not carefully managed.
