BLANTYRE – A Blantyre Magistrate’s Court has fined an American pilot K3 million for illegally landing an aircraft at Bakili Muluzi International Airport without the required authorization.KIA staff houses faces encroachment by land buyers

The pilot, identified as Terry Lee Jenningson, was convicted of breaching Malawi’s aviation regulations after landing an aircraft from South Africa without obtaining the necessary clearance.

“The pilot landed the aircraft without following the required legal procedures and was subsequently arrested,” Mikuwa said.

In his ruling, Magistrate Paul Chiotcha ordered Jenningson to pay a K3 million fine or serve one year in prison. Jenningson paid the fine, avoiding a custodial sentence.

Following payment of the fine, the aircraft was cleared to depart from Bakili Muluzi International Airport.
