Iranian officials have dismissed U.S. President Donald Trump’s warnings about possible “blackouts” if Iran crosses the Strait of Hormuz again this week.

Esmaeil Baghaei, a spokesperson for Iran’s foreign relations ministry, called claims that Iran is developing nuclear weapons or threatening the U.S. and its allies “false.” He added that Tehran sees no reason to alter its course or agree to deals that could harm the country’s future.

Baghaei emphasized that Iran’s military remains prepared to defend the nation, continuing the posture it has maintained over the past several weeks.
