Malawi Congress Party (MCP) member and lawyer Ayuba James has launched a blistering attack on President Lazarus Chakwera, declaring that he will never support the Head of State again while accusing him of weak leadership, indecisiveness and failing to break away from advisers who allegedly contributed to his administration’s shortcomings.

In strongly worded remarks shared publicly, James said President Chakwera was “a good man” but argued that he had been misled by those closest to him throughout his presidency.

According to James, many of the individuals who allegedly influenced the President’s decisions have remained within his political circle instead of being held accountable.

“Chakwera was a good man, but he was misled by the people around him.”

James questioned why those he believes contributed to the administration’s failures continue to enjoy the President’s confidence.Ayuba James says dunderheads learn nothing

“Ask yourselves where those people have gone today. You will find that almost all of them are still around him, happily so,” he said, adding that several have even been accommodated in the party’s shadow cabinet.

He argued that this should serve as a warning to Malawians against expecting different leadership outcomes if the same team remains in place.

In one of his strongest criticisms, James declared:

“Even if rain were to fall from the ground to the sky, I can never vote again for an indecisive, slow and politically naive person.”

James maintained that his loyalty is to Malawi rather than to individual politicians.

“I know what this country needs, and I cannot be more loyal to individuals for personal benefit than I am loyal to the nation.”

He also accused President Chakwera of failing to remove underperforming officials whom he personally appointed, describing such reluctance as a sign of weak leadership.Ayuba James: A Steadfast Voice of Integrity Within the MCP

James further argued that expecting a dramatic change in leadership style at the President’s age is unrealistic.

“We cannot expect anything new from a man at that age. No scientific theory supports that thinking.”

He also criticised what he described as a strategic weakness within the MCP, alleging that some party loyalists from the Central Region have a narrow view of the country’s electoral landscape.

According to James, some supporters wrongly believe that drawing large crowds in a few Central Region strongholds automatically translates into nationwide electoral victory.

“That is why you are still waiting for Lilongwe Rural votes even today. That kind of thinking is too narrow.”

The remarks are likely to intensify debate within the ruling party as Malawi moves closer to the next general elections, with questions continuing to emerge over the MCP’s electoral strategy, internal cohesion and President Chakwera’s leadership.MCP Rocked by Open Rebellion as Ayuba James Calls for New Leadership

President Lazarus Chakwera and the Malawi Congress Party had not publicly responded to James’ remarks at the time of publication.
