Concerned citizen calls government to explain Chihana’s fate at BWB

Drama continues happening at Blantyre Water Board (BWB) over its Chief Executive Officer Yeremia Chihana who has been suspended and immediately reinstated by the High Court of Malawi.

On Tuesday morning, the Workers Union met and resolved to relieve the duties of Chihana and the Board’s Chairperson Stanley Chirwa.

There was a commotion at Blantyre Water Board as workers were chanting “achoke, achoke, achoke” speaking for itself that the two officers are not wanted at Blantyre Water Board.

A concerned citizen of Malawi Mrs. Elizabeth Kaliza Banda of Area 51 in Lilongwe, has asked President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, the appointing authority of the Chief Executive Officer and the Board Chairperson to intervene and resolve the matter once and for all.

Kaliza Banda said Yeremia Chihana was not wanted at Blantyre Water Board shortly after he was appointed its Chief Executive Officer and it is now clear that Chihana is not wanted there.

She said President Professor Mutharika is owing Malawians an explanation as to why he is just watching the drama continuing happening at BWB without taking necessary action to resolve the issues at hand.

The concerned citizen said Blantyre Water Board has repeatedly been suspending Chihana, but the courts have been coming to rescue him to continue working there with the workers expressing their anger on him.

Kaliza Banda has asked the appointing authority that what is it exactly Chihana made at Blantyre Water Board warranting the workers to put down their tools protesting against his leadership?

She said the commotion happening at Blantyre Water Board is destroying the legacy of the appointing authority who in this case is President Professor Mutharika.

The citizen has claimed that there are many capable people in Malawi who can attract Mutharika’s eyes to be appointed to the Board’s management questioning Professor Mutharika why not giving the two not wanted at Blantyre Water Board other duties elsewhere outside Blantyre Water Board?

Kaliza Banda has advised the DPP that it is digging itself a pit to fall down by failing to address the concerns of workers at Blantyre Water Board over the leadership of Yeremia Chihana.

She has urged the DPP government to dissolve the Blantyre Water Board Board for a new one to see where the problems coming from , warning the party that failure to resolve Blantyre Water Board issue in as soon yesterday, workers at BWB will label the DPP as a failed government.
