Constituents Demands Businessman Ian Lyton Changa Kaunda To Contest On MCP Ticket

In the bustling Nkhatabay Central Constituency excitement is brewing as constituents looks eagerly awaiting for the upcoming 2025 parliamentary election.

What is making this election particularly thrilling is the coming of a familiar face – Ian Lyton Changa Kaunda, a prominent business tycoon who has been called back from the city of Blantyre to contest on Malawi Congress Party ticket.

“Changa K” as popularly know, a beloved figure in Nkhatabay Central, known for his philanthropic endeavours and dedication to improving the lives of the constituents gives a node to the decision to recall him to run for office was met with resounding support from the community, who believed he is the right man to represent their interests in parliament.

However, some political observers says Kaunda may not have an easy path to victory, standing in his way is the incumbent parliamentarian, Symon Vuwa Kaunda and lawyer Ralph Mhone, a politician who has defected from the People’s Party to join the MCP.

MCP National Executive Committee (NEC) officials, Catherine Gotani Hara and the Director of Strategic Planning, Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma and MCP north-north regional chairperson, Joseph Chavula introduced Kaunda and Mhone as the two candidates, with the future of Nkhatabay Central, a year before as the election campaign kicks into high gear.

the town was abuzz with excitement and anticipation. Both Kaunda and Mhone crisscrossed the constituency, meeting with constituents, making promises, and trying to sway undecided voters to their side.

But as election day draws closer, it is becoming clearer that the people of Nkhatabay Central have already made up their minds, recalling their beloved son, Ian Changa Kaunda to be their representative in parliament, willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen.

In a brief interview with Ian Lyton Changa Kaunda on the side-lines of the MCP Nkhata-Bay Mega rally, he briefly said the journey from the city of Blantyre back home in Nkhatabay Central has been a long and arduous one.

“With the unwavering support of my fellow constituents, I am sure to overcome every obstacle in my path and emerged victorious. as we prepare to take the seat in parliament, i vowed to work tirelessly to fulfill the hopes and dreams of the people who have placed their trust in me,” Kaunda said.

Several people interviewed in Nkhata-Bay town says, they have now made the right choice, recalling their son to lead them into a bright and prosperous future.
