Youthful Amazing Grace Tepeka as widely known among the youth, has become the latest born youthful politician to take politics seriously under the flagship of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) vying for the position of Director of Research at the August, 2024 MCP elective conference.

Graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Statistics and professionalism in research, analysis, strategic and planning, Tepeka said MCP philosophy has welcomed the youths in the party and has allowed them to be part and parcel of the leadership.

He said MCP is a majority party in Malawi because it has democracy and acceptability of all kinds of people regardless of race, region, color, age saying this affirmed to him the love he has for the MCP making other parties having no chance because they are more of undemocratic and regional centered.

Speaking in an interview, Tepeka said MCP has patriotism spirit, sees every Malawian as one, as a home, as a family hence it always put all its efforts in one advancing agenda that benefits Malawians unlike other parties which have politics of self-business of not putting Malawians at heart.

Tepeka said he feels pain in his heart to see that Malawi is failing to sustain itself as it was during the reign of Ngwazi Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda in food security to a begging nation praying that the country can regain its economy if its people are united behind one government.

He has urged Malawians to stick with the leadership of President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera as he continues to rebuild the country after 30 years of damage and destruction observing that 5 years does not equate the equation of rebuilding the country.

The youthful aspirant has also urged all Malawians to support government implementations of projects assuring all that it will not take more than 6 years for the country to be back to life claiming that Malawians are seeing strategic developments and plans as well as external relations being put in place.

“Serving the party as its Director of Research gives the party a bright future and significant gains in the Lomwe belt where I have a strong following and acceptability,” said Tepeka.

At Chancellor College, Tepeka was one of the leaders providing leadership skills and ability to influence minds of people and was voted as MCP President CHANCO MCP wing in 2020 where at that time, UTM and DPP wings were growing while MCP wing was losing ground.

He has worked hand in hand with the Ministry of Youth and the party in the Eastern Region in various party activities making CHANCO MCP wing to remain the only ruling and vibrant wing at the mother-University.

The youthful aspirant has also served in Muvi wa Chilungamo as Director of Youth, Director of Capacity Building and rose to become an executive member of the grouping where he participated in the struggle to uproot the DPP in the 2019 to 2020.

On the NEC elections, Tepeka expressed fears that the MCP Constitution was set a long time ago and it is important to abide to it saying there is no time to make changes when national elections are insight, observing that the elective conference could have come 2 years ago.

Tepeka said fighting for changes in the MCP Constitution may lead to breaking a functioning system that has been proven on the ground and this will weaken themselves but since it is a constitutional mandate, the aspirants in various positions will see for themselves how they will survive.
