Newcomers to pend until two years in MCP

In the twist of events, the embattled Malawi Congress Party-MCP has stipulated that only individuals who have held party positions for the past two years are eligible to contest in the upcoming convention.

This resolution bars newcomers like Mumba and other aspiring politicians, including Uladi Mussa, from vying for senior leadership positions within the party’s politburo.

MCP spokesperson, Ezekiel Ching’oma stresses in a media statement that there is a requirement for those contesting to be the party’s members for a minimum of two years to qualify for the race.

Statement said that those eligible to contest must have demonstrated their commitment and dedication to the party’s values and goals.

It added to ensure a fair and transparent process; the party has developed a code of conduct that all members, including aspiring candidates, must adhere to.

“This code of conduct sets the standards for ethical behaviour and ensures that the convention is conducted with integrity,” reads part of the communication.
