Nothing bizzare as both derbies end in draw

Yesterday at Kamuzu Stadium, the stage was set for a clash of titans as FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers reignited their storied rivalry.

The air buzzed with anticipation as fans filled every corner, their fervent cheers painting the stands in vibrant hues of blue and red.

But despite pride and prestige being at stake in all battles for supremacy in the country’s top flight Blantyre and Mzuzu derbies, no team managed to pull out a victory as both derbies ended in a draw .

In Blantyre, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers played out to a one all draw at the country’s Southern region football epicenter the Kamuzu Stadium.

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers broke the deadlock in the 20th minute of the first half courtesy of an Isaac Kaliati well strucked left footed volley which caught the bullets backline and goalkeeper off-guard to give the Lali Lubani boys a much deserved win going into the second half.

Bullets came strong in the second half pressing their opponents in all phases of play searching for an equalizer which paid off in the 48th minute of the second half when Patrick Mwaungulu struck from yards out to restore parity.

Both teams searched for a winner but failed to capitalize on their chances to claim the City’s bragging rights.

In Mzuzu, high flying Mzuzu City Hammers faces their arch rivals Moyale Barracks FC at Mzuzu Stadium in a match that was characterized with both scintillating and emotional moments.

The first half ended goalless as both sides remained compact and focused to concede a goal.

This changed in the 49th minute when Moyale Barracks FC took the lead through Khumbo N’gambi who gave the Lions of Kaning’ina a well deserved lead to break the hearts of the Hammers enthusiasts.

Mzuzu City Hammers then started to control possession and created chances to restore parity which they did in the 56th minute through Isaiah Nyirenda who made sure that the bragging rights were shared equally.

Something bizzare and emotional incident happened when Hammers Midfielder Chimwemwe Chunga crushed heads with a Moyale Barracks FC player and sustained a serious head Injury which saw him rushed to a nearest health Care center for treatment.

All this summarized a much anticipated day which gave Football enthusiasts nothing but the best of action.

But champions are made of sterner stuff, and the TNM defending champions proved their mettle in the second half. With determination etched on their faces, they stormed back into contention, with Patrick Mwaungulu delivering a thunderous equalizer that sent shockwaves through the stadium. With tensions running high and the clock ticking away, both sides fought tooth and nail, desperate to clinch victory.

Yet, despite their valiant efforts, neither could break the deadlock, and as the final whistle echoed across the field, the scoreboard stood level, each team claiming a hard-earned point in the annals of the TNM Super League.

In revenues, the derby grossed K80.4 million with each team taking home K16.7 million. Last year it was around K67.5 million

Meanwhile, in the distant realm of Karonga Stadium, Silver Strikers continued their relentless march to glory, securing another triumph in their illustrious campaign.

Against the spirited challenge of Baka City, they displayed their indomitable spirit, emerging triumphant with a 2-1 victory that further cements their status as formidable contenders in the realm of football.
