A pressure group advocating for Atupele Muluzi’s candidature in the 2025 presidential polls dubbed ‘Friends of Atupele Muluzi-FOAM’ says it is surprised with actions by some quarters restricting it from promoting the name.
Recently, United Democratic Front-UDF issued a statement warning the grouping for allegedly using the party’s official colors in its meetings without proper procedures.
But in a statement, FOAM National Coordinator, Daniel Chirambo and Secretary General, Stain Chidothe describe this as an infringing on the freedom of association.
“Atupele is the last man standing. Humble, honest and a man of integrity,” says the group in a statement.
They add it is surprising the actions are coming from the party that fought for freedom of expression and association in the country.
The grouping has since vowed never to relent in its quest for Atupele, whose father ruled the country for 10 years, to contest as president in the polls.
