The country’s main power producer, EGENCO has resumed production of power at Kapichira Hydro Power Station with an initial production of 32.4 megawatts.
EGENCO’s Public Relations Manager, Moses Gwaza, confirmed that one machine is up and running, and they are expected to add another machine tonight.
He said the target is to have 3 out of 4 machines running as work on the cofferdam continues.
Once all the machines are operational, Kapichira Hydro Power Station produces 129 megawatts.
The machines were broken down following Cyclone Anna in February 2022.
