Lilongwe City Council introduces electronic car parking payment system

Lilongwe City Council (LCC) is from June 1, 2023 introducing electronic car parking payment system that will advance efficiency to park and pay amongst car park users in the city.

In an interview with Malawi News Agency (MANA) LCC Chief Public Relations Officer, Tamara Chafunya said the system allows drivers to swiftly enter and exit parking facilities, reduce congestion and promote a smoother traffic flow throughout the city.

She, therefore, appealed to drivers to embrace the system in order for them to experience a seamless and efficient way to park and pay.

She further said that the new system will also help the Council to better track and collect fees, minimise revenue leakage hence making the Council utilise saved additional funds to invest in improving parking infrastructure and enhance public spaces within the city.

One of the Lilongwe based drivers, Dickson Kipandula expressed excitement towards the new system saying it is convenient and secure.
