FDH Bank donates K7m to Mothers Fun Run

FDH Bank plc has donated K7 million to support this year’s Mother’s Fun Run initiative.

Mother’s Fun Run, an initiative in which Nation Publications Limited and its partners mobilise equipment and supplies to support maternal and neonatal health services in public hospitals, seeks to raise K300 million for Chikwawa District Hospital and its 12 satellite health facilities.

Speaking during a cheque presentation ceremony at its head office in Blantyre, FDH Bank plc public relations manager Lorraine Chikhula said the bank has supported the initiative because it contributes to progress in the health sector.

“We applaud Nation Publications Limited for this project that will save the life of the mother and child in Chikwawa,” she said.

Chikhula said as a corporate citizen, FDH Bank plc will continue to support future initiatives that will ensure that mothers receive quality and safe healthcare in Chikwawa and other areas countrywide.
Receiving the donation, Weekend Nation editor Steven Nhlane thanked FDH Bank plc for supporting the promotion of safe motherhood in the country.

“This money will be an enabler in saving lives of mothers who are giving birth as well as babies,” he said.

Nhlane called upon other corporate entities and individuals to come forward and support this cause.

“As the population grows the problems that the health sector faces also increase, we therefore call upon corporates and individuals to come forward with any form of assistance. We will always appreciate,” he said.

Nhlane noted that since 2005 the initiative has made an impact in the public maternal health facilities which lacked basic equipment.

The initiative rotates among various districts countrywide. Last year the Mother’s Fun Run Initiative supported Nkhata Bay District Hospital and its satellite health facilities while in 2022 it raised resources for Ntchisi District Hospital and facilities under it.
