The Commission of Inquiry investigating the crash of the Malawi Air Force Dornier 228 (MAF-T03) on June 10, 2024, has been granted a two-week extension by President Lazarus Chakwera.

The commission, chaired by Justice Jabbar Alide, had requested more time to complete its investigation and document evidence from the 120 witnesses who have come forward.

The initial deadline for the commission’s report was November 26, 2024.

However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the commission required more time to conclude its investigation.

With the President’s approval, the commission is now expected to finalize its report by December 14, 2024.

The aircraft accident, which occurred on June 10, 2024, claimed the lives of Vice President Saulos Chilima and eight others.

The commission’s investigation aims to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

The commission will submit its final report to President Chakwera by December 14, 2024.

The report will provide insights into the causes of the accident and recommendations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
