A large crowd gathered at the Golden Peacock Hotel in Lilongwe for the highly anticipated Ironman Conference, hosted by Shepherd Bushiri, leader of ECG – The Jesus Nation.
The event brought together influential voices in business, leadership, and faith, with notable speakers including Thomson Mpinganjira, Jimmy Korea Mpatsa, and Billy Gama, all of whom delivered messages aimed at empowering attendees to overcome challenges and build lasting impact.
In his address, Dr. Mpinganjira emphasized the importance of creating sustainable systems and structures in business and leadership. He urged participants to focus on building ventures that can stand the test of time, even beyond their personal involvement.

“True success is not just about what you achieve today, but what continues after you are gone,” he said, drawing strong applause from the audience.
He further highlighted that some of the most significant breakthroughs often emerge during periods of adversity. Using the example of Ekhaya, Dr. Mpinganjira explained how the company was born during the difficult COVID-19 era—a time when, he claimed, there were attempts by certain political figures to undermine and shut down their banking operations.
Addressing long-standing public speculation, Dr. Mpinganjira also dismissed reports that he acquired MSB Bank in 2015 for MK1 billion. He clarified that the actual acquisition cost was MK5.5 billion, noting that the bank was not profitable at the time of purchase.
The Ironman Conference continues to serve as a platform for inspiration, bringing together individuals from different sectors to share insights on resilience, leadership, and wealth creation in challenging environments.
