The Parliaments of Malawi and Palestine are considering establishing a friendship committee to strengthen bilateral relations and promote cooperation between the two countries.

The proposal was discussed on Tuesday during a meeting between Chairperson of Parliament’s Committee on International Relations, Anne Aisha Adams, and Palestine’s Ambassador to Malawi, Hanan Jarrar, at Parliament Building in Lilongwe.

The proposed committee would provide a platform for lawmakers from both countries to discuss issues of mutual interest, exchange experiences and explore opportunities for cooperation through parliamentary diplomacy.

If established, the initiative is expected to strengthen engagement between the two legislatures and create opportunities for closer collaboration on matters of shared interest.

Ambassador Jarrar represents Palestine in Malawi, South Africa, Namibia and Lesotho. She assumed office in January 2020 and is based in Pretoria, South Africa.
