The Vice President for the Central Region in the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Alfred Gangata, has arrived at Chilimampunga grounds, where the party is holding a critical meeting aimed at consolidating its strategies and addressing pressing issues ahead of the 2025 general elections. Gangata, accompanied by key party officials, received a warm reception from party supporters who gathered in large numbers to witness the event.
Prominent figures within the DPP, including the party’s youth leader Norman Chisale, Mary Navicha, and Chimwemwe Chipungu, are among the high-ranking officials escorting Gangata. Their presence underscores the importance of the meeting, which is expected to bring together members from across the Central Region to deliberate on the party’s roadmap as it seeks to reclaim power.
Addressing the gathering, Gangata highlighted the significance of unity within the party, urging members to put aside their differences and focus on strengthening the DPP’s structures. He emphasized that only through collaboration and unwavering commitment can the party effectively challenge the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and other political contenders in the next elections.
“This is a moment for reflection and action. We must prioritize the interests of Malawians and work together to rebuild our party. The Central Region is a crucial battleground, and we need every member to be actively involved in mobilizing support,” Gangata said, drawing loud applause from the audience.
Mary Navicha, one of the senior figures present, reiterated Gangata’s call for unity, stating that internal divisions have the potential to derail the party’s progress. She urged members to remain focused on the DPP’s vision of development and prosperity for all Malawians.
Norman Chisale, the youth leader, also addressed the gathering, encouraging young people within the party to take an active role in campaigning and promoting the party’s agenda. “The youth are the backbone of this party, and we have a responsibility to ensure that our voice is heard across all regions,” he said.
The meeting at Chilimampunga is one of a series of engagements that the DPP leadership is holding across the country as part of efforts to rejuvenate the party and solidify its support base. With the 2025 elections fast approaching, such gatherings are seen as critical in rallying members and setting the tone for the party’s campaign.
As the event continues, the mood among attendees remains upbeat, with many expressing optimism about the party’s future prospects. The presence of key leaders such as Gangata, Navicha, and Chisale has further bolstered confidence among supporters, who view the meeting as a step in the right direction for the DPP’s resurgence.
