There have been debates going on in various social media platforms following a video clip the Malawi Police released parading suspects that are believed to have murdered a Medical Doctor at Chigumula in Blantyre on the 17th November, 2025.
Days after the incident, Minister of Homeland Security Peter Mukhito told Parliament that Police have managed to arrest two suspects in connection with the murder of the late Dr. Victoria Bobe but did not disclose the identities of those arrested saying investigation are going on.
On 16th December, 2025, the Malawi Police Service (MPs) released a statement that they have made significant breakthrough in Dr. Victoria Bobe’s murder case following detailed confession of six suspects who were arrested in connection with the crime committed.
In the statement, the police say investigations are on- going to arrest two remaining suspects and recover the stolen property including the rifle believed to be in Mozambique assuring members of the general public that all suspects are brought to justice.
However, the statement by police was coincided with the parading of the suspects who went to the late Dr. Victoria Bobe’s residence where they were demonstrating how they managed to find their way in the house and the motive behind.
In the video clip, one suspect is being heard addressing fellow suspects as “these inmates” and “informers” these two statements have raised a heated debate in various social media platforms with others describing the parading of the suspects as a cover up plan for the police to hide for a no work done.
Other contributors have even described the video clip as not representing the true facts on the ground that the police do not want to accept that they have failed in their investigations parading six prisoners in the act as bringing drama to the scene of the incident.
A concerned citizen of Malawi Mrs. Elizabeth Kaliza Banda of Area 51 in Lilongwe, has asked Malawians debating on the parading of the six suspects as not genuine suspects to first let the police do their work and thereafter, questioning the police.
Kaliza Banda said in August, 2025 the police paraded murder suspects of Area 25 who used metal bars to kill people while riding a motorbike, the video clip received commendations from all Malawians thanking the police for the good work.
She said a similar parading of suspects has been done in Blantyre in the late Dr. Victoria Bobes’s murder case, some Malawians are not believing it saying this is speaking for itself that people are not trusting their police as it was during the 6 years of the MCP and President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.
“The DPP of Professor Mutharika has allowed the police to work independently, let them do their work and after all, there have been no comment from them on the same,” said Kaliza Banda.
She has prayed to God the Almighty that whether others are describing it as stage drama, not believing the suspects paraded in front of the cameras, but justice will be seen on those who murdered the late Dr. Victoria Bobe at Chigumula in Blantyre.
The late Dr. Victoria Bobe 33, worked as a Lecturer at the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences, she was fatally shot by unknown criminals on 17th November, 2025 at around 23;00 hours in Chigumula township- Blantyre, the criminals went away with MacBook Pro 11 Laptop, an Ipad 10th generation, and an NBS POS Machine.
