Rights activist and Malawi Watch Executive Director Billy Banda has appealed to President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to protect Mary Chilima so that justice can be seen in the ongoing investigations into the death of her husband Dr. Saulos Chilima and eight others.
Dr. Chilima and the others died in a plane crash in Chikangawa forest on Monday, 10 June 2024, a tragedy that has raised more questions than answers.MDF Commander General George Jafu Admits Military Leadership Faces Heavy Political Pressure
Banda said that while many Malawians are debating the progress of the Commission of Inquiry at Parliament in Lilongwe, Mary Chilima has remained quiet and is only following the proceedings.
He assured her that he will stand with her until justice is served, stressing that the deaths of Dr. Chilima and the eight others were painful and cannot be left without accountability.
Speaking through an audio clip, Banda described Mrs. Mary Chilima as a woman of few words who believes in justice.
He reminded Malawians that where blood has been spilled, justice must not only be seen but must flow like water.SHOCKER! President Chakwera admits failure, urges Malawians to vote for someone else
Banda said some people in the country are defending wrongdoers without knowing the truth and prayed that God would give them light to see they have taken the wrong path.
He advised Malawians that justice will never be served if people fail to speak the truth, urging them to speak out so their words can help uncover what happened in Dr. Chilima’s death.
The activist warned that those speaking to derail justice in Dr. Chilima’s case will face punishment from God, the Creator of Heaven and Earth, for running away from the truth.
He said when Mary Chilima speaks or writes, she uses few words, but justice must come out, and he urged patriotic Malawians to stand with her so that Dr. Saulos Chilima’s spirit can rest in peace.
“Let us all stand with the Constitution of Malawi, let us work together to defend Malawi for it not to be taken to destruction,” Banda said.
A concerned citizen, Mrs. Elizabeth Kaliza Banda of Area 51 in Lilongwe, said truth is now emerging at the ongoing inquiry, unlike previous investigations that she believes served the interests of the MCP and President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.Timeline Questions Emerge in Malawi’s Chikangawa Plane Crash Inquiry
Kaliza Banda said the current inquiry has shown independence and urged Malawians not to dismiss the Adhoc Committee as another waste of public resources, as in the Amaryllis Hotel sale case where billions of kwacha allegedly went to crooked politicians.
She appealed to Malawians who wish the country well to pray for Adhoc Committee Chairperson Walter Nyamilandu Manda so that no internal forces interfere with his work.
Kaliza Banda finally urged Malawians following the inquiry to remain patient and stand with the truth, saying justice will be seen in the deaths of Dr. Saulos Chilima and the eight others, whether people like it or not.
